Interdisciplinary teams from Slovenia, Romania, Croatia, Italy, Finland and Spain gathered at the final conference of the European project REVIVE, held at the campus of the Catholic University of Murcia. The meeting marked the conclusion of a two-year artistic research initiative co-funded by the European Commission under the Creative Europe programme, aimed at breathing new life into historic sites in decline through artistic experimentation, architecture, and digital technology. Throughout its implementation, REVIVE has promoted the integration of sustainability, inclusion, and creativity as key elements in transforming Europe’s cultural heritage.

Presentation of the REVIVE Handbook

During the final conference, the project partners presented the REVIVE Handbook, a collective publication compiling the experiences, methodologies, and lessons learned from the artistic interventions carried out in Tržič (Slovenia), Iași (Romania), Cellino Attanasio (Italy), and Turku (Finland). The handbook reflects how creative and technological practices can foster new forms of community engagement and sustainable use of heritage spaces.
Architect and urban planner José María Ezquiaga delivered a keynote lecture exploring new paradigms in creative heritage management through the lens of Baukultur, the emerging European framework for culture-driven urban development.

Art performance and dialogue with young talents

One of the highlights of the conference was the contemporary dance performance by a group from the María de Ávila Higher Conservatory of Dance (Madrid). The artists translated, through movement, the relationship between art, heritage, and collective memory, offering a living example of REVIVE’s spirit of creative reinterpretation of historical sites.
The event concluded with a round-table discussion among young artists and artistic directors from the partner institutions, who shared their personal reflections and discussed the impact of the project on local communities that have benefited from these revitalisation actions.
