First days of Revive experiment in Turku

The first three days of the REVIVE live experiment in Turku, Finland, have laid a strong foundation for our intensive two-week project, designed to explore creative placemaking and community engagement. Here’s a brief overview of the journey so far:

Day 1: Group Dynamics and Team Building

The opening day was all about connecting with the group. As they came together from different backgrounds and disciplines, the focus was to foster teamwork and create a sense of unity. Building these relationships was essential, as they will carry the team through the challenges of the upcoming weeks.

Day 2: Diving into Development

On the second day, the team plunged into the development phase. They spent the entire day examining the factors that influence their work and the community’s needs. This deep dive helped them understand how to better engage with local stakeholders. To top it off, they visited the Forum Marinum Maritime Center, where they learned about their development plans and witnessed a fantastic example of creative placemaking. The rapid transformation of a parking lot into a welcoming space for visitors demonstrated the power of quick, impactful changes.

Day 3: Serious Play and Prototyping

The third day focused on “serious play” as the group explored the tools at their disposal and created quick demos to visualize what’s possible. This hands-on approach allowed them to test their ideas in real time, helping to clarify the direction of their work.

Day 4: Setting the Final Questions

The team set the final questions guiding both the artistic work and the future direction of the area. These themes now serve as the foundation for all content creation, ensuring that the outcomes of the project align with the community’s needs and the project’s objectives.

Day 5: Collaboration with TUAS Circus Students

Tthe Young Talents took a creative leap by visiting the TUAS (Turku University of Applied Sciences) circus students. These students will play a significant role in supporting the video production for the project, adding a unique and artistic flair to the visual content. This collaboration highlights the interdisciplinary approach of the REVIVE project, bringing together different forms of expression.

Weekend: Relaxation and Broader Inspiration

The weekend was dedicated to activities designed to relax and inspire the participants. On Saturday, the Young Talents ventured to Helsinki, broadening their perspectives and soaking in the vibrant city atmosphere. Sunday brought a change of pace, with a visit to the scenic Turku Archipelago, offering both relaxation and a chance to connect with nature.

With just a few days left, the REVIVE Turku Experiment is gearing up for its final showcase, blending artistic vision and community engagement to create a lasting impact on the future of the area. Stay tuned as the project culminates in what promises to be a powerful and visually stunning event.
